A story that began in Brazil and became an adventure in Texas.

Meet the Founder

A story that began in Brazil and became an adventure in Texas.

Tapios started with a simple memory, a question that wouldn't go away, and a belief that food can do more good when it's rooted in nature.

Growing Up with Cassava

I grew up in southern Brazil, where cassava wasn't considered a superfood or a specialty ingredient. It was simply part of everyday life.

Both of my grandmothers grew cassava in their backyards, transforming it into countless dishes that brought family and friends together around the table.

Long before I understood entrepreneurship or food systems, cassava had already become part of my story.

Founder's Note

I didn't realize it growing up, but cassava is part of Brazil's cultural DNA. It has shaped our food, our traditions, and the way generations of families have gathered around the table. Tapios is my way of sharing a small piece of that heritage with the world.

The Beach in Paraty

Years later, I was on a beach in Paraty with my two-year-old nephew.

He was happily eating biscoito de polvilho, a simple cassava snack loved across Brazil.

Within minutes, other children noticed. They became curious. They came over. Without speaking the same language, they were laughing, sharing the snack, and playing together.

Watching that unfold, I realized food has a remarkable ability to connect people.

Why couldn't a snack like this exist in the United States?
Founder's Note

Tapios didn't begin as a business idea. It began as a question I couldn't stop thinking about.

A Snack That Brings People Together

Tapios wasn't created to make another “healthy snack.” It was created to recreate the feeling I witnessed on the beach: curiosity, sharing, conversation, and connection.

If a simple cassava snack could help children connect across cultures, perhaps food could do more than satisfy hunger. Perhaps it could help people discover each other.

What I Believe

Food should tell a story.

Food should tell a story.

Great food connects us to people, places, and something bigger.

Nature usually has the best answers.

Nature usually has the best answers.

We just have to listen and learn.

Packaging shouldn't outlive the snack.

Packaging shouldn't outlive the snack.

We use materials designed to return to the earth.

Healthy food should be joyful.

Healthy food should be joyful.

Food that is good for you can also be genuinely delicious.

Small choices can create meaningful change.

Every bag is a vote for the future we want.

Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead

My hope isn't simply to build a snack company. My hope is to help more people discover cassava, support regenerative farming, and prove that better food and better packaging can go hand in hand.

This is only the beginning.
