About Cassava

About Cassava.

The ancient root that feeds a billion people and powers every Tapios bag.

What Is Cassava?

Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is one of the most important food crops in the world. It feeds over a billion people across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It is drought-resistant, grows in poor soils, and has sustained civilizations for thousands of years in Brazil and beyond.

Despite its global significance, most people in North America have never heard of it. That is what we are here to change.

Why Cassava for Snacking?

Cassava flour creates a uniquely satisfying crunch that other grain-free flours simply cannot replicate. It is naturally gluten-free, grain-free, and nut-free. It binds beautifully, bakes evenly, and absorbs flavor in ways that make every Tapios puff a genuine experience.

Unlike potato or corn-based snacks, cassava has a neutral, slightly earthy flavor that lets our real-ingredient spice blends shine without competing for attention.

Regenerative Cassava Farming

All of our cassava is sourced from farms in the Brazilian cerrado practicing regenerative agriculture. This means rotating crops to restore soil health, maintaining natural ground cover to prevent erosion, minimizing synthetic inputs, protecting local watersheds, and working with the land rather than against it.

Every bag of Tapios is the result of a farming system that gives back more than it takes.
